The celebration witnessed the gathering of a large number of devotees. The temple was beautifully decorated with flowers and colourful lights, while devotional chants and slogans dedicated to Lord Krishna and Baba Shyam filled the premises. The temple, popularly known among devotees as “Kolkata’s Khatu Dham,” is regarded as one of the prominent Khatu Shyam temples in Eastern India.

A special Bhajan Sandhya formed an important part of the evening’s programme. Renowned singers Nishant Rajliwal, Rahul Rajliwal, Anurag Dadhich and Arpit Srivastava performed devotional bhajans dedicated to Lord Krishna and Baba Shyam. The performances created an atmosphere of devotion, with devotees joining in the singing and swaying to the music. The evening also witnessed enthusiastic applause and devotional chants across the temple premises.

The celebrations further featured a captivating dance drama by Bittu Singh Rajput. Through the performance, various episodes from the life of Lord Krishna were depicted, including his divine birth, childhood leelas, butter-stealing episodes and Raas Leela. The artistes received appreciation from the audience for their presentation.

The spiritual celebrations reached their high point at midnight. At 12 midnight on September 5, Lord Krishna’s birth was ceremonially observed in the presence of devotees amid chants and greetings. The Janmotsav was followed by a grand Maha Aarti, during which devotees offered prayers to Lord Krishna and Baba Shyam.

The religious ceremony concluded with the distribution of Mahaprasad among devotees. The temple continued to witness the presence of devotees late into the night as the Janmashtami celebrations concluded on a deeply devotional note.

Temple Trustee and Secretary Govind Murari Agarwal said that the successful organisation of the Janmashtami celebration was made possible through the active participation of temple workers, volunteers and supporters.

He said that the team took responsibility for various aspects of the event, including preparations, arrangements for devotees, programme coordination and overall management. The collective efforts of the team ensured that the celebration was conducted smoothly and in a well-organised manner.
